Why split sessions matter
Many restaurants and hospitality businesses operate split sessions - open for lunch, closed in the afternoon, then open again for dinner. Without this, your AI agent will either say you're open all day (wrong) or closed after lunch (also wrong).
RingDesk supports two sessions per day so the AI can tell callers your exact hours.
Configuring split hours
- Go to your desk, then open Call handling and select the Opening hours tab.
- For any day that has a lunch break, click the + split button on the right side of that day's row.
- A second time slot appears. Set the second opening and closing times.
- Use the Late button on any closing time to mark it as "late" (no fixed close - useful for businesses that stay open until it quiets down).
Example
A bistro open Monday to Friday 12:00-14:30, then 18:00-Late would be set as: - Opens: 12:00 / Closes: 14:30 - Opens 2: 18:00 / Closes 2: Late
The AI will tell callers: "We're open Monday to Friday, 12pm to 2:30pm, and then again from 6pm."
Removing a split session
Click the remove (x) button next to the second session row to remove it. The day returns to a single session.
