## Taking over your account
If a RingDesk partner or the RingDesk team set up your account for you, they'll hand it over by email when it's ready. This guide walks you through taking over.
1. You'll get an email
The email subject reads something like "Your RingDesk agent for [your business] is ready to go live". It contains a secure Take over your account link.
- The link works once and is valid for 14 days.
- It can only ever set up the email address it was sent to, so keep it safe.
2. Set your password and accept the terms
Open the link and you'll be asked to:
- Choose a password (at least 8 characters).
- Tick to accept the Terms of Service and Data Processing Agreement.
Once you confirm, you become the owner of the account and your free trial starts from that moment - the time spent setting things up beforehand doesn't count against it.
3. Review your agent and go live
You'll land on a review and go live welcome screen. Here you can check how your AI agent has been configured - its greeting, voice, knowledge, opening hours, and call handling - and take it live when you're happy.
You can change anything later from your dashboard.
If your link doesn't work
- "This link has expired" - it's been more than 14 days. Ask whoever set up your account to send a fresh link.
- "This link is invalid or has already been used" - the account has already been claimed. Try logging in instead, or contact your partner.
- "An account with this email already exists" - that email already has a RingDesk login; log in with it rather than claiming.
