When your AI receptionist transfers (patches through) a caller to you or a member of your team, you are only charged for the part of the call the AI handled.

When does the meter stop?

The moment we connect the caller to a human, your plan minutes stop counting for that call. The conversation you then have with the caller is not charged against your included minutes or overage.

An example

A caller reaches your agent. It answers, understands what they need, and after about 40 seconds decides to put them through to you. You then talk to the caller for 6 minutes.

  • Charged to your plan: the ~40 seconds the AI was on the call (rounded up to the nearest minute).
  • Not charged: the 6-minute conversation you had after the transfer.

Why it works this way

Your plan minutes pay for the AI receptionist's time. Once a real person takes over, the AI's job is done, so it stops the clock. You get the benefit of a 24/7 answered line without a transfer inflating your usage.

Note: the number your calls are put through to is your own phone or team line, so any charges on that line are between you and your own phone provider - they are separate from your RingDesk plan.
